Your finished chapters
Direct to Spotify
Spotify is your priority and you want a direct catalog submission.
Spotify plus wider distribution
You want retailers beyond Spotify, and your title is eligible for the referral route.
Narrating with AI voices?
Spotify currently says it does not share digital-voice-narrated audiobooks with its wider-distribution partner. Plan for the direct route, and confirm the policy before you submit.
Keep it beside you while you upload
Print it, fill in the metadata sheet, and tick each check in one pass before you press submit.
Publishing an audiobook on Spotify: common questions
Spotify's requirements change. These answers point to the checks that matter.
Can I upload an audiobook directly to Spotify?
Spotify says publishers and self-published authors with the Upload audiobook permission can submit through Spotify for Authors. Check Spotify's current eligibility and payment-profile requirements before you begin.
Which audiobook audio files does Spotify accept?
Spotify currently lists MP3, WAV, and FLAC. Its alert guidance includes additional technical requirements, so review the live Spotify guidance before exporting your final chapter files.
Can I distribute beyond Spotify?
Spotify for Authors offers a referral path to Voices by INaudio for wider retailer distribution. It requires extra distribution details, and Spotify notes that digital-voice-narrated titles are not currently shared with that referral partner.
How long does it take for an audiobook to appear on Spotify?
Spotify says directly uploaded titles can be available to listeners within 72 hours, subject to processing. A title can show in Drafts and briefly disappear while it processes, so treat 72 hours as a guideline rather than a launch date.
Do I need an ISBN to publish an audiobook on Spotify?
Spotify's alert guidance lists the ISBN among the metadata that can block availability. It expects a 13-digit audiobook ISBN that is unique to the audiobook edition, so do not reuse your print or ebook ISBN.
What cover art does Spotify need for an audiobook?
A square PNG or JPEG. Spotify recommends 3000 x 3000 px. Check that the title is still readable at thumbnail size.
Is publishing an audiobook on Spotify exclusive?
Spotify describes direct uploads through Spotify for Authors as non-exclusive. Review the current distribution terms before you publish elsewhere.
Does NarrationBox publish my audiobook to Spotify?
No. NarrationBox helps you create, revise, and export chapter-based audiobook audio for your publishing workflow. Spotify decides current submission requirements and acceptance.
